By the way, the following is my experience on using priceline.com to book hotel.  The price is about half compare to the price you book from other websites.

  1. Decide where you are going.  Find out your destination address.  For example, to Princeton university in New Jersey (112 mercer street, Princeton, NJ)
  2. Go to the website http://biddingfortravel.yuku.com/ , in ‘USA Hotels’ click your destination state.  For example, ‘New Jersey’.
  3. Before you read the forum for the price, find out which region you will choose when you bid on priceline.com.  Click the Hotel list, which normally listed on the top.  For example, ‘NEW JERSEY HOTEL LIST’.  This region is match the region in priceline.com
  4. Find your region.  This is very important.  A lot of people made mistake and bid a hotel far away from their destination.   In priceline.com, when you input your address of the destination, it will give you a region list.
  5. Go back to http://biddingfortravel.yuku.com/ then find the region listed in priceline.com.  You will find each region has different hotels listed under different star levels.
  6. Click hotel name to find the hotel address then use google map or yahoo map to determine which region is closest to your destination.  That way, you decide which region you are going to choose when you bid on priceline.com
  7. In my example, I found ‘Princeton - Monmouth Junction’ is the region I need to choose.  There are only 4 hotels which are 3.5 stars above.  All of them are within 6 miles to my destination.
  8. Now check the forum for the bidding price.  I noticed that there is one similar winning price is $50. So I bid $50 on priceline.com and choose the correct region we found out and also choose 3.5 stars above.  That way, we are sure we are bidding on one of the 4 hotels we found in last step.
  9. I did not win.  It shows that if I add $14, I will win.
  10. You can accept that so your price would be $64 + tax.  I choose to wait 24 hours to bid again.  The next day I bid the price at $55 and I got “Marriott Princeton Hotel” at $55 + tax.  The total include taxes is about $70.
  11. Add your winning price on the forum so other people can use it as a reference.
